Tribute One of the most highly respected ghazal singers of India, Ghulam Ali, shares his memories of ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh. The two were in the midst of a series of concerts when Jagjit Singh pulled out to undergo emergency neurosurgery. Singh succumbed to brain hemorrhage early this morning (October 10, 2011).

Lyricist Javed Akhtar fondly remembers his longtime friend, ghazal guru Jagjit Singh, who passed away early this morning (October 10, 2011). The musical legend had been in a coma since the 23rd of September, prior to which he underwent emergency surgery for brain hemorrhage.

Lata Mangeshkar says she is very sad by the news of Jajit Singh’s death. She recalls the recording sessions of them and how he used to teach her. She says whenever they used to meet he used to be very nice to her. She says Jagjit Singh used to practice a lot even in this age and there will no ghazal singer like him in India.
