A midst family, fans and friends from the film and music fraternity at the funeral of Jagjit Singh, his wife Chitra seemed to be remembering the man who had once sung with her Tu Nahi To Zindagi Me Aur Kya Reh Jaayega; Duur Tak Tanhaiyon Ka Silsila Reh Jayega. Trying to hide her tears behind dark glasses, Chitra looked lonely in the crowd.
Jagjit Singh’s Pedder Road residence was flocked by fans holding pictures of the Ghazal maestro, teary eyed friends and family members. Renowned classical vocalist Pandit Jasraj, lyricist-composer Gulzar, Javed Akthar, actor-politician Raj Babbar, Vinod Khanna, actors Shabana Azmi, Shah Rukh Khan, Raza Murad, Roopkumar Rathod, Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Ila Arun, music composers Kalyanji, Shekhar Ravjiani and Yash Chopra, Subhash Ghai, Madhur Bhandarkar attended the funeral. Ghulam Ali, who was supposed to perform with the Ghazal maestro at the concert that got cancelled due to the latter’s hospitalisation also offered his prayers.
